In the heart of Spain
Authenticity, terroir, culture and hard work are reflected in and make up our Hermanos Lurton cuvées. We invite you to discover the essence and raison d'être of our wines produced in Rueda and Toro.
In our research into great terroirs, D.O. Toro and its unique grape variety, Tinta de Toro, were like an El Dorado.
François Lurton
The history of the Lurton brothers began in 1992 in Rueda, with the discovery of its unique native grape variety: Verdejo. Jacques and François Lurton fell in love with this variety. It was not long before the innovative pair were using their expertise to revolutionise the style of wines in the appellation.
"Despite the importance of its history, D.O. Toro was not enjoying the reputation it deserved, remaining overshadowed by its prestigious neighbour, Ribera del Duero." François Lurton
Legendary wines
In the south of Castile and León, our vineyards are located in two appellations: D.O. Rueda for white wines and D.O. Toro for red wines. Winegrowing has gone on in the region for centuries: the Catholic Monarchs were producing well-reputed wines here as early as the 15th century. In these large terroirs with a strong identity, intersected by the River Duero, the vines grow in poor, deep, sandy and gravelly soil, known as "canto rodado".
